The Scottish Women's Premier League Transfer Window: January 2025

In this article we will be covering all the transfers and departures that have happened in the top 6 of the Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 so far in the January Transfer Window.
Starting off with last year’s champions, Celtic have only made 2 signings so far but have had 3 departures. Celtic announced their first signing who is Emma Westin who joined from Hammarby, who played her first minutes as a Celtic player on the 26th of January while playing hearts at home.
Celtic also signed Abi Harrison who joined from Bristol City after playing there for 6 years since leaving Hibernian in 2019. She went on to play for Bristol City for over 128 games and scored 40 goals, becoming a key player for Bristol City. She joins Celtic on a short term deal until the end of the season.
On the same day Celtic announced that Caitlin Hayes would leave the club to make the move to Brighton and Hove Albion in the WSL. Caitlin joined Celtic in the 20/21 season and in her time made an impact on and off the pitch. She made 153 appearances and scored 40 goals as a defender and she’s a player that fans will miss.
They also said goodbye to Hannah Kerner who joined in January 2023, but she did miss all of the 23/24 season through injury. She then made 6 appearances and only two starts in the 24/25 season.
They also said goodbye to Signe Carstens who joined Celtic just 7 months ago with her twin sister Mathilda Carstens. Signe made 9 appearances and had one goal.
The next team we will cover is Rangers. They have made only one signing so far in the transfer window and that is goalkeeper Telma Ivarsdótti, who has joined from Icelandic side Breidablik on a 2 and a half year deal.
Telma has 12 caps for her country and in her last season she was also crowned Goalkeeper of the Season after having 12 clean sheets in 20 games.
Rangers also announced 1 loan move and that was for youngster Lily Boyce who joins Queen’s Park until the end of the 24/25 season. They have only had 1 departure which is youngster Mason Clark who made her move to Motherwell permanent after joining them on loan at the start of the season.
Glasgow City have yet to make any signings in the January window but announced that youngsters Rachel Murchie, Cara Gray, and Mia Scott will continue their development with extended loans at Montrose and Kilmarnock until the end of the 2024/25 season.
They also announced that Sophia Martin would join Montrose on loan for the remainder of the season.
Hibernian have also yet to make any signings but have announced a few loans. Starting off we have two youngsters Ellie Osbourne and Lily Park who have joined Livingston on loan until the end of the season.
Ellie Osbourne started the 24/25 season on loan to Dundee United and Lilly Park went on loan to Stirling University.
The other loan deal was Mya Christie to Spartans also in the SWPL. Mya made 15 appearances at the start of 24/25 season and scored once.
Moving to the other side of Edinburgh we have Hearts. They have made just one signing which was Jenna Slattery who joined from Galway United where she spent the last two seasons.
Unfortunately for Hearts she will spend the start of her time sidelined due to injury. Hearts also announced that Kerry Beattie and Emma llijoski will join Aberdeen on loan till the end of season.
Beattie who joined Hearts from Glentoran in the summer of 2024 and llijoski joined Hearts from Canberra United in the Women’s A-League also signed in summer 2024.
And lastly in the top 6 of the SWPL 1 we have Motherwell. They have yet to make any new signings although it was announced as discussed above that Mason Clark has joined them on a permanent deal and they have not had any departures yet. Motherwell just like Hibernian are also unbeaten so far in 2025.
