Sarina Wiegman and Alessia Russo previewed England's Nations League

game against Spain this morning at Wembley Stadium.

Wiegman confirmed that the entire squad is fit ahead of the match, including Lucy Bronze who was substituted in the 46th minute of England’s 1-1 draw against Portugal.

When asked about the team’s slightly sporadic form recently, Wiegman says: “We work really hard and we try to play our best every single game. We review the game and we want to do better tomorrow, that’s what we’re working on.”

During the conference, the rise in the level of competition in the game, especially since the World Cup was brought up, Wiegman stated: “No game is going to be easy anymore... The world has changed.”

The two teams last met at the Women’s World Cup Final in 2023, where Spain

narrowly beat the Lionesses 1-0 and took home the trophy.

Reflecting on that loss, Russo was asked if the team will be seeking revenge when they play Spain: “I think revenge reflects on the past. We’re a new team, with lots of new faces and qualities.” She continues, “We don’t want to be looking back. Obviously, it hurt, but we want to be moving forward.”

Following on from this, Wiegman was asked if England have evolved since that loss, to which she replied: “I think we have evolved. You can’t relate back to the Euros or the World Cup anymore, we’ve got so many new players coming in and the game has evolved itself.”

Russo also discussed playing at England’s iconic home venue, Wembley Stadium: “It is an iconic place. It’s nice for them (the other teams) to get to come to our home.”

“We’re really proud and grateful to get to play here so often, it really does feel like a home to us. It’s nice that we get to share that with other players who deserve to be playing at these stadiums too”

Speaking about the importance of these Nations League fixtures on their

development and experience, Russo says: “We want to be our best ready for the Euros and this is another massive step in our journey. We want to be testing ourselves against the top opposition, and we’ve got that within our Nations League group.”

Wembley Stadium will host the two teams on 26th of February at 8pm GMT.

The game will be streamed on ITV4 from 7:15pm GMT for those watching from home.
