The South Yorkshire side, currently sat 10th in the Championship, haven't had the season they've wanted so far.

The Blades' have been in the Women's Championship for seven seasons now, with their home ground being Bramall Lane, where they play all their home fixtures. This has been the case since July 2022.

Over the years, Sheffield United have hit many milestones within women's football, one of these being back in 2023 when the side brought out their very own women's away kit. This kit was designed uniquely for the women's team under the tag line, 'This one's for us.'

Head Coach

The Blades' head coach Ash Thompson came in last July after working alongside the academy age groups. During his time there, he helped guide a young Sheffield United side to a Professional Game Academy Cup Final win against Chelsea last season.

During his time so far as the first team head coach, he has taken the Sheffield side to the fourth round of the FA Cup, as well as winning one game so far this season. The Blades have been unlucky in multiple games they've played this season, and their place in the Championship doesn't reflect their performances.

Players to watch

Connie Scofield

In January 2025, during the final few days of the Winter Transfer Window, midfielder Connie Scofield joined Sheffield United on loan from London City Lionesses for the remainder of the 24/25 season.

Scofield's experience at international level as well as playing in the WSL is a key addition to the side alongside her footballing skills. Her Northern Ireland international debut came days later during the Blades' 1-1 draw against Durham.

Issy Hobson

Up next is Issy Hobson, known for being the youngest player in the Barclays WSL to score a goal at 16 against Arsenal. Hobson also joined the side at the start of the year.

The versatile defender is also well known for putting in a crucial challenge for the team. Her ability to adapt to a team's needs during a fixture is a key element that makes her the player she is.

Up next

United will travel to play London City Lionesses on Sunday the 23rd of March at Hayes Lane. LCL are currently fighting for a spot in the Women's Super League on 29 points.

This fixture will be a challenge for Thompson's side. Last time the side met was at Bramall Lane in November. The red side of Sheffield put up a fight throughout with goalkeeper Sian Rodgers pulling off some great saves. Sadly they missed out on the point in the last few minutes of the game due to Georgia Brougham hitting the back of the net.

However, another loss for Sheffield United will be the fact they are missing a few players. One of these will be youngster Issy Hobson after she was shown a straight red during their fixture vs Portsmouth. The side are also missing a few players due to injury.
