Alex Scott is one of the most influential women's athletes today. While she first made a name for herself as a top tier footballer, she has since gone on to leave an equally powerful legacy off of the pitch.
A strong advocate for equality and empowerment, Scott continues to deliver the message that girls can do anything they set their minds to.
Born and bred in London, Scott’s football journey began when she joined the Arsenal academy at the age of just 8, foreshadowing just how much the club would end up meaning to her.
In 2022, Scott released her autobiography, where she bravely opened up about the domestic abuse she went through as a child due to her father's alcoholism. She has since become an ambassador for a domestic abuse charity to which she described it as ‘an incredible honour'.
International Career
Scott represented England at both the Under 19 and Under 21 levels, as well as continuing on to have an incredible senior career.
She made her senior debut for England against the Netherlands on the 18th of September 2004. Her international career saw her compete in 3 World Cups, with a standout moment coming in 2015 when England secured a historic bronze medal.
Club Career
Scott had three separate spells with Arsenal, a club she always held close to her heart from the start. When she broke into the first team, she originally played as a striker or right winger, before solely becoming a right back later on where she truly shined.
After breaking into Arsenal's first team, she transferred to Birmingham City for the 2004-2005 season, before eventually returning to Arsenal to continue her legacy.

Life In The Media
Scott has become one of the most influential female pundits; she started out her media career whilst she was still playing football.
After hanging up her boots in 2017, she turned her attention and focus to her career in the media. She quickly became one of the most prominent and respected football pundits.
Scott made history in 2018 by becoming the first female football pundit at the World Cup, as well as becoming the first female pundit on Sky Sports, breaking barriers and paving the way for the future generations. In 2021 Scott was announced as the new presenter of football focus.
Scott made headlines at the 2022 FIFA World Cup after seven European national football associations announced their captains would not be wearing the LGBTQ + one love armband. Scott protested this by wearing the armband whilst reporting on the England vs Iran Match, a courageous act with an important message; Love is love.
She continues to break down barriers as well as uses her platform to stand up for what she believes in. Scott has proved time and time again that she’s not just a footballer, she’s a role model and a force for change.
